Lauren was not safe from the flu, unfortunately. She seemed warm on Thursday, we swabbed her Friday and she was positive for Influenza B, same as Ryan. She's on the mend and today seems 100% better save for the occasional sniffle. She even got to go to Costco and Dick's Sporting Goods (and chose to walk the entire time for both outings!!!!!) so she will be at school tomorrow. She was so sad to miss school on Friday, but the whole district ended up being closed for a water main break anyways.
Ryan has had a phenomenal weekend!! Yesterday he went ice skating!!! He skated once or twice before several months ago, but wouldn't go again. He really couldn't decide if he wanted to go and was really anxious about making a decision. Finally he said, "You know what mom? Yes!" Luckily Greg was home, so he stayed with Lauren while I went. So Ryan and I went skating with my dad, Amanda, Jesus, and Timmy. My dad helped Ryan get his skates on and he was on the ice before any of the rest of us even had our skates on. He used one of those plastic walker things for learners, and he skated for almost the entire hour!!! I teared up a couple times like a lunatic, I was so proud of him that he was willing to give it a try and he stuck with it.
Then he got to have a sleepover with my parents. They of course spoiled him rotten! Then this morning my mom brought him to church. He had fun at church and was super happy. Then we went to Costco and to Dick's Sporting Goods. Ryan was such a happy guy the whole day!
It's so incredible to have days like this with him where he's so happy and willing to go places with us. A lot of his anxiety is surrounding leaving the house, so this felt like a really big weekend for us.
At Costco we bought an elliptical machine that converts into a stationary bike. We're really excited! Lets hope it doesn't become a dust collector, haha.
